The aim of this establishment is to inform and educate people in a fun, lively way with a permanent exhibition on the flora and fauna in the Luberon National Park.

The Paleontology Museum, located in the 13th-century vaulted cellar of the Maison du Parc, will teach you all about a little-known area of geology: the Aptian and Gargassian stratotypes.

The Luberon has a number of animal and plant fossils which are of considerable paleontological interest. The guide will take you on a fascinating journey back in time - 130 million years ago, to be exact.

The Geology museum is located in Apt’s centre, in the House of the Luberon nature park.

Rich collections of local fossils, abundant displays, playful manipulations and information for everyone : the museum offers a new look on the Luberon, both landscapes and history.

You will discover the resources of the patrimony, landscapes, rocks and fossils, that 20 years ago lead to the creation of the Luberon natural geological preserve.

Overlooking the Luberon geological history, 150 million years old, you will explore the archives of Earth and Life, that made possible the reconstruction of the paleo-geographic and paleo-environmental past worlds. Frescoes give life to the ancient Luberon marine, riparian or continental landscapes.

The close connections between today’s landscape and the geological underground are also shown. Each landscape is the result of the nature of the rocks that make the underground and the way they were broken, pleated, worn out, … by the tremendous forces at work on our planet.
