Le Laboratoire Souterrain à Bas Bruit

Le Laboratoire Souterrain à Bas Bruit

The LSBB in Rustrel Pays d'Apt (University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, CNRS, Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur) hosts one of the lowest noise environments in the World.

The LSBB (University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, CNRS, Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur) is located in the south-east of France, in Vaucluse. Hosted in a former underground military base originally designed to be fully hardened and secure within the framework of nuclear defense.

The base platform is located within a carbonate formation in which the seismic, gravitational and magnetic noises are measured as some of the lowest in the world. A multi-parametric environmental monitoring is continuously performed to guarantee the highest quality to experiments.

Being a French national facility, the LSBB welcomes all kind of projects that in-return can benefit from the permanent highly skilled staff and from the large environmental database at quite, stable and attractive conditions.
LSBB permanently controls the noise level of the environment with multiparametric sensors.
Rare events can be detected and certified.
