Cycling through the Ochre

A 51 km circuit along rural roads with little traffic.
You cycle through the ochre villages of Luberon - Apt, Gargas, Rustrel, Roussillon and Villars – and will see ochre quarries, panoramic views and a landscape of amphitheatres, cliffs and underground galleries. This is a journey through colour under the intense light of Luberon.
The circuit is waymarked:
in green: in the direction Apt-Gargas-Roussillon-Villars-Rustrel
in red ochre: in the direction Apt-Rustrel-Villars-Roussillon-Gargas
in yellow ochre: connecting routes.
In each village you pass through, look out for information panels about visits not to be missed and other useful facts.
The Calavon cycling route
Mountaing bike

This one-day circuit will take you to a picturesque village offering magnificent views of the unspoilt surrounding countryside.
Difficulty: Difference of height of about 600 metres (1968 feet).
From Apt, head for Saignon, then Auribeau (D48). Just before you get to Auribeau, park in the car park on the right side of the road, at the edge of the forest path, near the "attention au feu" signpost. Take this path as far as the Grand Luberon ridges.
At the top, turn right at the "L’Amourralhadou" crossroads, (westward) and follow the path along the ridge as far as "Les Estrugets". Follow the yellow markings until you get to a water tank. At the "Lou Pas deis Ensarris" crossroads, follow the red and yellow marked path down to Sivergues (where you'll find a watering point). Continue along the path via the "Barbe Blanche", "Pré des Masques", "Plaine Lambertes", "Vouliou" and "Le Colombier" crossroads.
Afterwards, follow the yellow markings to "Les Fondons", "Auribeau", and then back to the starting point.
