
Belle-Vue Rock
35 m high, the Saignon rock, called Belle- Vue, identifies the village.
The rock overlooks ans protects Apt's valley. It overlooks and protects the Apt valley. Panoramic view on the Calavon river, Mount ventoux, Lure, (see orientation table on the site).
It is a natural site which was used in the past as a protection against invasions (3rd to 9th centuries). Wells, halls, stairs, the rock is a genuine fortress and was the base to 3 different medieval castles, the ruins of which can still be seen.
2 hours' walk to visit both the village and the rock.
